Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy captured the viral shot in Arizona, perfectly aligning skydiver Gabriel Brown with the blazing surface of the Sun, a moment he titled ‘The Fall of Icarus’. Gabriel jumped from a small paramotor at around 1,070 metres, while McCarthy positioned his camera nearly 3.2km away to keep both the skydiver and the Sun sharply in focus. Using a hydrogen-alpha filter normally meant for solar astronomy, Andrew revealed the Sun’s fiery outer layer at the exact second Brown d
